The Coast Guard is searching Jamaica Bay for two people after a boat capsized off the Rockaways Thursday.

The incident was reported at about 10 a.m., Coast Guard officials said. Officials said students at Beach Channel High School saw the 10-foot, white and green boat sink and told authorities.

The Coast Guard found another capsized boat nearby, but said it was a derelict. It is unclear if that boat, which is white and blue, played a role in the capsizing of the other vessel, officials said.

A rescue helicopter from Air Station Atlantic City is searching the area, Lt. Brandon Link said in a statement released by the Coast Guard. FDNY and NYPD aviation units are also searching the area.
