A building at the LIRR Jamaica station was evacuated and trains were briefly halted Thursday afternoon after a smell of gas was reported, but no leak was found, officials said.

An odor of gas was reported at the AirTrain station at about 12:26 p.m., but emergency responders determined there was no gas odor at the station, an FDNY spokesman said.

The AirTrain building was evacuated for a time, said LIRR spokesman Sal Arena. Trains through Jamaica would likely be delayed about five to 10 minutes, he said.
