Oscar nominee Jennifer Lawrence is officially Hollywood's new "It" girl.

Earlier this week, the 20-year-old “Winter’s Bone” star landed the super-coveted lead in "The Hunger Games" franchise — an upcoming series of films based on the addictive best-selliers, which seem poised to become the new (less smarmy) “Twilight." The thinking person's teen lit, as we like to call it.

The story takes place in the future, where teens are chosen at random to participate on a reality TV show called "The Hunger Games," which forces them to compete to the death. Lawrence will play Katniss Everdeen, a girl who joins the survival contest to save her community.

Apparently, every serious young actress in Hollywood was clamoring for the role, includung Hailee Steinfeld, Chloe Moretz, Emma Roberts and Abigail Breslin.
