Jets owner: I'd rather have Mitt Romney win than the Jets

The Jets may have suffered a humiliating defeat Sunday, but the team's owner is focused on something else: getting Mitt Romney elected.

A day after the Jets' 34-0 loss to San Francisco, owner Woody Johnson said that if he was given the choice between a winning season for Gang Green and a Mitt Romney victory, he would rather have Romney take the Oval Office.

"I think you always have to put country first," Johnson said yesterday on Bloomberg TV's "Market Matters."

"So I think it's very, very important that for -- not only for us, but for in particular our kids and grandkids -- that this election come off with Mitt Romney and [Paul] Ryan as president and vice president," he said.

Johnson, 65, is the chairman for Romney's campaign in New York, and has been a fervent fundraiser for the ticket.

He has owned the Jets since 2000.

Johnson addressed Sunday's embarrassing loss at home, calling it "unacceptable" for Gang Green.

"The coach and the coaches and I are not happy with what happened," he said. "And the players aren't either."

Johnson added that while there's more pressure to start Tim Tebow at QB while starter Mark Sanchez flounders, Sunday's loss "doesn't mean Tim Tebow's starting next week."
