A plane with 47  people on board landed safely after it experienced landing gear issues shortly after departing  Kennedy Airport Wednesday evening, according to the Port Authority.

American Airlines Flight 3940 from JFK to Montreal experienced mechanical issues shortly after departing, according to Port Authority spokeswoman Alana Calmi.

The plane returned to the Queens airport and was towed to the gate, Calmi said.

The FDNY confirmed that it has been deployed to the scene.

A spokeswoman for the Federal Aviation Administration did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
