Is NBC planning to replace Jay Leno with Jimmy Fallon? Depends on whom you ask.

The potential move may be part of NBC’s drive for a younger audience, the report said, with Leno, 62, facing stiff competition from ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel, whose show draws a generally younger crowd.

“The more time Jimmy Kimmel is in that slot, the more the young audience goes that way, the harder it is for Jimmy [Fallon] to keep that audience,” a source told The Hollywood Reporter.

Still, NBC is denying early claims of such a replacement, and Leno’s reps declined to comment.
