Joe Fresh's flagship store open for biz

Fast-fashion newcomer Joe Fresh has strategically sprung up both in pop-up and permanent form around Manhattan since the fall - making those hard-to-miss tangerine shopping bags a semi-regular sight.

It's safe to say they'll soon be a fairly ubiquitious sight, now that the Canadian import has set down NYC roots in the form of a two-floor, 14,000 square-foot flagship at 510 Fifth Avenue - a modernist, landmarked building designed in the 1950s.

Unlike Joe Fresh's various pop-up shops and smallish Flatiron outpost, just the sight of this sprawling colorbomb of a space is enough to thrill high-street shoppers, with its range of women and men's apparel, accessories and cosmetics.

Exactly how good is Joe Fresh? At last weeks VIP unveiling, Mayor Bloomberg referred to the store as "the greatest Canadian export since Justin Bieber." It's a statement that - after seeing the label's silky blouses for $39, $16 denim and $70 cashmere - we think should be the other way around.
