John Liu to announce mayoral run on Sunday: Spokesperson

City Comptroller John Liu is expected to formally announce his run for mayor Sunday, according to a spokesman, putting to rest speculation aboout the Democrat's bid for higher office.
The 46-year-old former city councilman will be joining a long list of Democratic candidates, including City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, Public Advocate Bill de Blasio and former City Comptroller Bill Thompson. Catsimatidis.Republicans include ex-MTA boss Joe Lhota.
