Sampson jurors to resume deliberations Friday

Jurors in the Brooklyn federal corruption trial of state Sen. John Sampson completed their fifth day of deliberations Thursday without a verdict, and without any notes indicating they are hung.
After the jurors asked for additional exhibits and playbacks of recordings at the end of the day and said they wanted to leave "as soon as possible," U.S. District Judge Dora Irizarry showed some impatience -- keeping the panel until 6 p.m., and telling them they might have a verdict if they would all arrive on time in the morning.
Sampson, 47, a Brooklyn Democrat, is charged with obstruction of justice, tampering with witnesses and evidence, and lying to the FBI in an effort to cover up his embezzlement of $188,500 from an escrow fund.
Deliberations are scheduled to resume Friday.
