Jurors begin deliberations in al Farekh terror trial

Jurors in Brooklyn federal court began deliberations on Wednesday on terrorism charges against Muhanad al Farekh, a U.S. citizen of Jordanian descent charged with being part of a 2009 attack on a U.S. base in Afghanistan.

Al Farekh, 32, served in al-Qaida’s “external operations” force until 2014 after traveling to Pakistan in 2007, and his fingerprints were on tape wrapping the detonator of an unexploded truck bomb used in an attack on Forward Operating Base Chapman near Khost, prosecutors say.

The trial began on Sept. 12. Jury deliberations are scheduled to resume on Thursday.
