Jury in alleged cops' rape case don't reach verdict on day 5

The jury deliberating the case of whether two NYPD cops raped a drunken fashion executive in her East Village apartment spent the afternoon Tuesday listening to a readback of some of the alleged victim’s testimony.

They also gave indications that a verdict may not come soon.

The jurors had asked to rehear the woman’s account of the December 2008 day when officers Kenneth Moreno, 43, and Franklin Mata, 29, were summoned by a taxi driver to help her home. The officers were captured on building cameras going to her apartment four times, during which the 29-year-old GAP executive accused Moreno of raping her. Mata allegedly acted as the lookout. The officers have denied the allegations, saying they were consoling her.

At the close of Tuesday, the judge addressed some jurors’ scheduling issues, including not convening on Friday, according to the New York Post. He told the jurors that their concerns about deliberating past Memorial Day would be addressed later.
