Kathie Lee Gifford stirred the pot Tuesday on Today when prompted to comment on the revelation in a new book that Johnny Carson once stormed into a pied a terre of his wife, Joanne, packing heat and weeping because he was convinced she was having an affair with Kathie Lee's now husband, Frank Gifford.

Lee said she confronted her husband on the phone demanding, "Tell me: 'Did you have an affair with her?' He goes: 'I can't remember. Maybe.'" Lee then went on to say this "particular" allegation is "not true, though the man is capable of it, as you know."

Joanne Carson, now 81, told the New York Post that the scene described in "Johnny Carson," the new book by Henry Bushkin, was "delusional" and that Carson never carried a gun.

Later in the Today show, while Lee and Hoda Kotb were discussing Miley Cyrus's comment that people over 40 rarely have sex, Lee observed, "lots of people have sex when they get older, but they truly cannot remember it afterwards."
