Sans hubby, Katie Holmes is cruising right along.

A month after her divorce from Tom Cruise was finalized, Holmes is doing "great," a pal of the actress' told Us Weekly.

"She's doing really great," the friend said. "She's so strong, she's an independent girl with her own ideas. She is fine."

Holmes filed for divorce from her hubby of five years earlier this summer. Reports indicate she left Cruise is because of his involvement in the controversial Church of Scientology and his desire to raise the couple's daughter, 6-year-old Suri, in the church.

Since the split, Holmes and Suri have been living in a reported $12,000-plus a month pad in Chelsea, and have been spotted all over town together.

According to reports, this fall Suri will attend Convent of the Sacred Heart, an all-girls Catholic School on the Upper East Side.
