Kenya's Kiplagat wins women’s title at NYC Marathon

Kenyan long distance runner Edna Kipligat is the 2010 women’s NYC Marathon champion, crossing the finish line in an unofficial 2:28:20.
Shalane Flanagan, of the United States, came in second in her first-ever marathon, clocking a 2:28:40. It was the first time since Kim Jones' 1990 finish that an American woman finished second.
Kenya’s Mary Keitany finished third (2:29:01).
The top American finishes behind Flanagan were Katie McGregor (11th place, 2:31:01), Kathy Newberry (17th, 2:35:23), Serena Burla (19th, 2:37:06) and Alyssa McKaig (20th, 2:37:29).
