Nets coach Jason Kidd is a rookie again and he, like most rookies, is working with the NBA's Summer League.

Kidd yesterday held his first practice as coach of the team he led to back-to-back NBA Finals appearances a decade ago. It's rare for NBA head coaches to work so closely with the Summer League, but Kidd's inexperience in the role makes it a fit.

"Someone brought up it could be sort of a 'summer school' type situation where I'm learning from [some] of the best," Kidd told ESPN, "so right now it's observing and giving input and understanding and getting comfortable with the coaching aspect of it."

The Nets first Summer League game is on Sunday against the Pistons in Orlando.
