The Statue of Liberty is getting a make-over for her 125th birthday.
Lady Liberty’s insides will be off limits to visitors after Oct. 28 for one year, while crews install new stairways and elevators and upgrade its electrical and mechanical systems, the National Park Service said. The rest of Liberty Island will remain open.
Each day, a maximum 2,500 visitors are allowed to tour the statue, while an estimated 18,000 people visit the island itself.
