Lance Armstrong set to speak with Oprah in wide-ranging interview

Disgraced bicyclist Lance Armstrong is set to speak with Oprah Winfrey in a "no-holds-barred" interview airing on Jan. 17 on OWN, the network said Tuesday.

During the 90-minute special, Armstrong will address the doping scandal that sunk his career and stripped him of his seven Tour de France titles, the network said.

Rumors have swirled for weeks that Armstrong would come clean and admit to using performance-enhancing drugs, though it was unclear whether he will explicitly admit using them.

Armstrong, 41, was given a lifetime ban on competing professionally last year after the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency released a wide-ranging report that accused him of doping. He retired from the sport in 2011 while facing an investigation into his alleged doping, and last year he resigned as chairman of Livestrong, the foundation he created that has raised hundreds of millions of dollars in the fight against cancer.

The interview, which takes place at Armstrong's Texas home, will be streamed live on oprah.com.
