Lindsay Lohan: I didn't swipe $2,500 necklace
“I didn’t do it!”
That’s what Lindsay Lohan is claiming in her latest bout with the law — the reported theft of a $2,500 necklace from the jewelry store Kamofie & Company in Venice, Calif.
According to TMZ.com, the shop’s owner saw Lohan wearing the “one-of-a-kind” necklace in a photo online and brought the picture to police. The owner also reportedly gave authorities video surveillance of Lohan wearing the necklace in the store on Jan. 22.
A source told TMZ that the case is “strong” against the 24-year-old actress and that charges are “likely” to be brought.
Lohan, meanwhile, said that her stylist borrowed the piece of jewelry and forgot to return to the shop on time. However, the necklace reportedly found its way back to the store on Tuesday night — before police had a chance to search Lohan’s home, according to E! News.
“I didn’t have any part in the non-returning on time,” Lohan told sources, TMZ reported.
The Los Angeles Police Department contacted Lohan’s probation officer about the latest alleged blemish on Lohan’s record, reports said.
The starlet will attend a previously scheduled hearing on Feb. 25 and could be sent back to jail if it’s proven she violated the terms of her probation, which includes obeying all laws.
