Lindsay Lohan skips optional court date, charges may not be filed

LiLo's first court appearance of 2013 was a dud, as the starlet skipped the date and may not be charged after all.

Lohan was set to appear in Manhattan criminal court yesterday for allegedly slugging a 28-year-old woman in a Chelsea nightclub last November, but she skipped the optional appearance after prosecutors postponed bringing charges against her.

The reason for the delay is unclear, but the Manhattan district attorney's office hadn't filed a complaint against the "Mean Girls" star, and, for that reason, her presence was not required at the courthouse, said David Bookstaver, a spokesman for OCA.

"The investigation into this case is continuing," said Erin Duggan, a spokeswoman for the district attorney's office.

Lohan's attorney reportedly told reporters outside of court yesterday that he had "brought some very credible evidence and testimony to their attention," according to the Daily News.

Among that evidence is an unaffiliated witness who said LiLo was completely innocent, the News said.

Lohan's appearance was scheduled for the same day that the News ran a report pitting her parents against each other, hurling blame for the former A-lister's endless legal troubles.

Dina Lohan, Lindsay's mother, said her then-husband and Lindsay's father Michael abused her years ago in front of her children. Michael countered that the claims were false, and that Dina's endless partying is a bad influence on Lindsay.

Lohan's attorney didn't respond to a request for comment.
