The line for the iPhone 5 at Apple's flagship Fifth Avenue store nearly doubled Tuesday, despite stormy weather that sent some diehards scrambling for cover.

At least seven umbrella-toting campers Tuesday joined the 10 who had set up by Monday, and the downpour yesterday wasn't raining on their parade, they said.

Pedro Delgadillo, 56, of Washington Heights, got on line at 6 a.m. Tuesday, and said that weather wasn't a factor.

"I want to get it fast and get it first, and I'm staying here to get it," he said.

Jessica Mellow, 27, of Harlem, who arrived on Thursday, said she and a few other line-sitters even rented a car Monday night to sleep in and protect their gear, including Macbooks and other tech.

People have been lining up for seven days now, with many using the publicity as marketing campaigns to push iPhone apps or other Apple-related products and services -- a trend seen for the first time in all the years of Apple line-sitting.

The iPhone 5 is set for release on Friday.
