Lines for gas expected to last for days: Cuomo

Long lines at gas stations aren't going anywhere for at least a few days, but progress has been made to alleviate some of the pressure on pumps, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said yesterday.
"We do believe this is a short-term problem ... but it will continue for a number of days," Cuomo said.
He also asked residents not to hoard gasoline, saying that it is leading to increased demand, and not to drive at all unless it's absolutely necessary.
Gas stations across the city have seen lines of hundreds of cars since last week, as residents desperate to fill up have been bleeding them dry. Federal assistance has helped to provide some relief, and FEMA said yesterday that it would distribute more than 250,000 gallons of fuel in New York and New Jersey.
More than 8 million gallons of gasoline have been delivered to New York via tanker, and millions more will make their way through the system in the next few days.
