LIRR service restored after switch failure
Service was restored Friday morning after a switch failure at the Atlantic Terminal in Brooklyn canceled service between Jamaica and Brooklyn in both directions, the Long Island Rail Road said.
In morning email alerts sent to customers and subscribers, the commuter service said New York City Transit is honoring LIRR tickets at stations affected by the cancellations.
The LIRR issued the first alert by email at 5:13 a.m.
Cancellations included two eastbound trains and one westbound train between 5:01 a.m. and 6:22 a.m., the service said.
