U.S. Rep. Charlie Rangel added another big backer Tuesday to his bid for a 22nd term.
City Comptroller John Liu said the 81-year-old Harlem Democrat's experience in Washington could still help the city.
"We need him to keep representing our interests, and he needs our help to make that happen," Liu said in a statement.
Rangel, who was censured in 2010 by the House for violating ethics rules, has the endorsements of Mayor Michael Bloomberg and former Mayor Ed Koch.
He is facing off against State Sen. Adriano Espaillat in the Democratic primary.
