Long Island City to be scene of emergency exercise
For much of Sunday, subways will be diverted and streets closed in Long Island City as the city conducts a mass casualty exercise, authorities said Saturday.
More than 900 personnel are set to take part in the event, run by the city's Office of Emergency Management, the agency said.
Street closures from 6 a.m. until 4 p.m. include North-Queens Plaza South, East-Jackson Avenue, South-47th Avenue and West-Vernon Boulevard/10th Street.
The E train will be rerouted through the F line, stopping at 21st Street-Queensbridge. There will be no service to Court Square or 21st Street.
Participants in the exercise include the city government, transit agencies and the American Red Cross in Greater New York.
