Lustgarten Foundation raises $1.2M to fight pancreatic cancer

Donors raised $1.2 million for the Lustgarten Foundation’s fight against pancreatic cancer during its annual holiday fundraiser on Wednesday.
The 16th annual Holiday Rock & Roll Bash, sponsored by the Madison Square Garden Co. and AMC Networks, was held at Tao Downtown in Manhattan, according to a news release from the charity. Because the Lustgarten Foundation is supported by private funding, all donations go directly to pancreatic cancer research.
Hip-hop artist Swizz Beatz and the Radio City Rockettes performed during the event, which was billed as the charity’s “premier fundraising event,” according to the release. During its 16 years, the Holiday Rock & Roll Bash has raised more than $22 million for research.
The Lustgarten Foundation was created in 1998 in honor of Marc Lustgarten, the former vice chairman of Cablevision Systems Corp. and chairman of Madison Square Garden, who died of pancreatic cancer.
James Dolan, executive chairman of The Madison Square Garden Co. and former chief executive of Cablevision, and Charles Dolan, executive chairman of AMC Networks and former chairman of Cablevision, helped establish the Lustgarten Foundation.
