Majority of New York voters back Obama on various issues

There is little doubt among New Yorkers when it comes to their preferred presidential candidate, according to a NY1/Marist College poll released Wednesday.

President Barack Obama has the support of 61% of likely voters in the Empire State, while Mitt Romney has 35% and only 3% are undecided. Other findings from the survey included:

Age and GenderObama leads among voters 45 and younger with 67%. Voters older than 45 also back the commander-in-chief with 57%.

The president also leads among the state's men and women, getting 59% and 62%, respectively.

Favorability

Roughly 63% of New Yorkers view the president favorably, while 41% have a positive view of Romney.

Economy

The majority of New York voters say Obama is a better candidate for helping the economy. The poll said 56% of voters believe the president will turn around the U.S. economy.
