After more than a decade of toiling in relative obscurity and playing small roles in everything from "Star Trek: First Contact" to "CSI: Miami," Adam Scott has exploded onto the acting scene in the past five years.
He's been a part of some of the most indelible comedies of recent years, playing Will Ferrell's self-obsessed sibling in "Step Brothers," the failed actor at the center of cult TV series "Party Down," and Amy Poehler's love interest on "Parks and Recreation."
In "Friends With Kids," a dramedy opening Friday, Scott, 38, takes the next step in his evolution to full-on star. As protagonist Jason Fryman, who decides to have a baby with best friend Julie Keller (played by writer-director Jennifer Westfeldt) while they date other people, Scott carries this insightful look at modern parenthood.
amNewYork spoke with Scott about the film, which also stars Maya Rudolph, Kristen Wiig and Jon Hamm.
