Man, 88, robbed of casino winnings in Queens, authorities say

A Bronx man watched his 88-year-old victim count $1,000 in casino winnings before stalking him across Queens, wrestling him the ground and stealing the cash, prosecutors said Saturday.

Gregory Hillman, 57, was awaiting arraignment on charges of assault, robbery and grand larceny Saturday night after he was arrested following an NYPD investigation, Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said in a statement.

Hillman saw the victim win big at Resorts World Casino at Aqueduct Racetrack on Oct. 31, then followed him for an hour and a half on buses, subways and into a grocery store as he made his way to his East Elmhurst home, prosecutors said.

Outside the apartment building, Hillman grabbed the victim, reached into his pockets and pushed him to the pavement, knocking him unconscious, according to prosecutors.

Hillman then fled with the victim's wallet, which contained $1,010 in cash and a credit card, prosecutors said.

Police tracked Hillman's movements using security footage and linked him to an identification card he swiped at Resorts World Casino, Brown said.

"There were electronic eyes throughout the city that allegedly recorded the defendant's movements," Brown said in the statement."

Hillman, of 775 Concourse Village, faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted, the district attorney said.

The victim was treated at a Queens hospital for a bump on his forehead and other injuries.
