A man accused of harassing "Law and Order: Criminal Intent" actress Kathryn Erbe was charged Tuesday in Brooklyn federal court with violating the federal stalking law.

Charles Nagel, 36, was arrested in March in Philadelphia, his hometown, and charged with stalking Erbe for three years. The new federal charges - which don't name Erbe - charge that Nagel visited an actress on sets, wrote her obsessive love letters and communicated with her daughter.

Nagel was taken into FBI custody Tuesday in Philadelphia, officials said. He faces up to 5 years in prison if convicted.
