A 29-year-old man is in critical condition after jumping from the Verrazano Bridge Sunday afternoon.
The man, who has not been identified, was rescued from the water by the NYPD Harbor Unit after plunging from the lower level of the eastbound side near Brooklyn around 12:30 p.m., according to police and fire department sources.
A police officer performed CPR on the man, who was in traumatic cardiac arrest. He was then rushed to Staten Island University North Hospital where is his currently in critical condition, though an NYPD spokesman said he is unlikely to survive the fall.
