A Bosnian-born U.S. citizen and al-Qaida-trained terrorist was found guilty in Brooklyn Federal Court Tuesday for his role in a 2009 New York City subway suicide-bomb plot.

Adis Medunjanin, 28, now faces life in prison. He was convicted on all charges, including conspiring to carry out a suicide attack on American soil, receiving military training from al-Qaida and plotting to kill U.S. soldiers fighting in Afghanistan.

Prosecutors alleged that Medunjanin and two high school classmates, Najibullah Zazi and Zarein Ahmedzay, planned to set-off homemade explosives in the subway for the eighth anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The FBI and NYPD managed to quash the bomb plot before it was carried out.

His co-conspirators pleaded guilty and testified against Medunjanin last month.

Defense lawyer Robert Gottlieb has said that Medunjanin did want to join the Taliban, but never intended to kill anyone either overseas or in New York, according to The New York Daily News.
