Man linked to Times Square bomber nabbed for immigration fraud

A Pakistani man accused of giving money to the failed Times Square car bomber was busted Tuesday on charges of immigration fraud near Boston.

Aftab Ali Khan, 28, allegedly gave $4,900 to Faisal Shahzad around the time of the May bomb plot, to pass along to Khan’s family in Pakistan. Feds do not believe Khan knew about Shahzad’s plans.

On Tuesday, prosecutors charged Khan with immigration fraud and making false statements. The man allegedly lied about his work at two Boston-area gas stations. He also was allowed to enter the U.S. in 2009 to marry a woman, but ended up marrying a different woman and lying about it in immigration papers, according to Newscore.

Khan faces 10 years in prison and $500,000 in fines if found guilty.
