Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer releases export-based job plan
Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer released a job plan Wednesday centered on exports from New York City businesses.
Stringer, who is running unopposed in the Democratic primary for city comptroller, said companies here can boost business by tapping into foreign markets, citing an architectural firm, WORKac, that designed projects in Russia and Brooklyn Brewery, which sells its beer overseas.
Stringer's plan includes:
-- Creating a regional export council.
-- Increase exports to the home countries of the city's foreign-born business owners.
-- Establish an export mentoring program for small businesses to learn from Fortune 500 companies.
