Manhattan's priciest pad available for $100 million

Anyone with a penchant for super pricey Manhattan real estate is in luck: the most expensive apartment in the country is available at a cool $100 million.

The penthouse palace, located at the CitySpire tower, ousts a $90 million apartment at the nearby One57 building, as the most expensive pad in the city.

The 8,000-square-foot apartment, located at West 56th Street, occupies the top three floors of the tower and boasts 360-degree views thanks to its octagonal layout and astounding 135 windows.

Long Island-based developer Steven Klar, who lived there for nearly two decades, listed the place with Prudential Douglas Elliman.

Klar told the New York Times that the space warrants the high price tag because of it's beauty.

"Art is what people are willing to pay for, and an apartment like this is a like a piece of art," said Klar.

Though Klar purchased the digs in 1993 for a mere $4.5 million, he spent "at least as much" in renovation costs, according to the Times.

Famed interior designer Juan Pablo Molyneux spent two and a half years decorating the penthouse, including the six bedrooms, nine bathrooms, and 20-person dining room, in a lavish classical style.

The listing refers to the most expensive apartment in America as "the crown jewel" and claims it has the highest terraces in the city.

Interested applicants need not worry about having to brew their own coffee or where to store a massive wine collection, as the penthouse has a separate staff apartment and 1,000-bottle wine cellar on the floor below.

Oh, and there's also a silver closet.
