A manhole fire caused a cover to explode in midtown Saturday around 9 p.m.
There were no injuries to pedestrians, though a car parked on top of the manhole cover caught fire, an FDNY spokesman said.
Firefighters had the blaze under control by around 11:15 p.m.
Con Edison spokesman Alfonso Quiroz said Sunday that the cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
He added that there were no service problems to customers.
