Mark Zuckerberg marries longtime girlfriend in surprise ceremony

After taking his social-networking company public with the most anticipated IPO in years, Mark Zuckerberg announced this weekend that he was taking a honeymoon.

The 28-year-old Facebook founder wed his longtime girlfriend, Priscilla Chan, at a surprise ceremony at the couple's home in Palo Alto, Calif., on Saturday.

In true Facebook fashion, the couple announced their nuptials by updating their relationship statuses to "married" Saturday morning, along with a photo of themselves in their wedding outfits.

Zuckerberg shed his trademark hoodie for a black tie and is seen smiling next to his 27-year-old bride in the photo that has more than 769,000 likes.

ABC News reported that 100 guests, including Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg, thought they were coming for a party to celebrate Chan’s graduation from medical school.

Guests were also treated to a musical surprise when Billy Joe Armstrong gave a live performance of the Green Day song, "2000 Light Years Away," TMZ reported.

The couple met while attending Harvard and dated off an on over the years. Facebook did not return requests for details about the couple’s honeymoon.

The nuptials came a day after Facebook went public on the Nasdaq on Friday with its $16 billion IPO. The first day of trading was lukewarm for the social network, as it barely rose above it’s $38 price by the end of the day.
