TriBeCa isn't an area best known for its vast retail landscape, but now and then, a destination store will find its way into the quiet, provincial (by city standards, anyway) nabe.
The latest: Matt Bernson, the man behind many of Madewell and Urban Outfitters' private-label shoes, as well as his own eponymous collection.
Bernson's footwear - most of which are priced between $125 and $275 - are designed in high-quality workshops that use eco-responsible materials and advanced comfort engineering.
To boot, each pair is designed to transition easily and comfortably from day to night.
Bernson - a former construction worker - designed each element of the intimate 2,200-square-foot boutique to reflect his signature aesthetic of "working city girl en route to a weekend escape." And the designer's spring line seamlessly embodies that visual.
Apart from a selection that includes structured wedges, tribal sandals and neon flats, you'll find one-of-a-kind pieces of reworked furniture designed by Matt himself - many of which will be for available for purchase.
Also for sale: a curated selection of jewelry, bags, scarves and sunglasses from Bernson's own vintage collection.
