She’ll be the belle of the ballgame.

Callie Quinn, the Mets fan who struck a deal with the team to take her prom photos at Citi Field, got even more than she asked for — a surprise promposal from Mr. Met.

Quinn, 17, originally asked the Mets on Twitter if they could send a player to take prom photos with her. Instead, the Mets offered her an on-field photo shoot, with a catch: She needed to be retweeted 500,000 times.

Quinn reached her goal on Saturday, but the Mets surprised her beforehand.

On Thursday, Mr. Met visited Quinn’s school, New Dorp High School in Staten Island. Doing his best John Cusack impression, the mascot held a boombox overhead that played “Meet the Mets” and then held up a sign asking Quinn to prom.

A tearful Quinn accepted.

“I was just in shock,” Quinn said. “My mom and I were freaking out.”

Will Carafello, the Mets’ senior director of social media, said Quinn’s request “really spoke to us.”

“It was a fun idea and I think it’s something we can all relate to — finding a date to the senior prom,” he said.

Initially, Quinn didn’t think she had a shot at getting the retweets, until several celebrities started taking up her cause. After just a few days, she had been retweeted a quarter million times, including by William Shatner, Donnie Wahlberg and a handful of the Mets.

“Supporting #CalliesMetsProm all the way. Mets fans, help her out!” former Met, Curtis Granderson tweeted Jan. 21.

She said she hasn’t yet started planning for her big day at Citi Field but she does know she wants her dress to be blue to match her favorite team. She’ll wear the dress again a week later, when Quinn will rent a limo with friends and head to her prom at a venue in Brooklyn.

“I just wanna say that I’m so grateful to everyone who helped me out and retweeted me and helped me get to this point in such a short amount of time,” Quinn said.
