Michael Bay's years of directing fast-paced action scenes apparently came in handy Thursday when he had to defend himself on the set of the latest Transformers movie, the film's studio said.

Paramount Pictures said a man who was under the influence of drugs somehow made his way into the Hong Kong location where Bay, 48, was filming "Transformers: Age of Extinction." The man allegedly used an air conditioner as a weapon and swung near Bay's head, according to the studio.

Bay ducked and was able to subdue the man, Paramount said. Cops arrested the suspect and two of his friends who allegedly struggled with them.
