Federal judge grants reputed mobster permission to take vacation while awaiting prosecution on racketeering charges, report says

A reputed mobster who allegedly extorted a 71-year-old Staten Island man has been granted permission to take a vacation in Pennsylvania while awaiting prosecution on racketeering charges.

The Staten Island Advance says a federal judge granted the travel request by 51-year-old Michael Capra on Tuesday.

The Long Island resident's attorney made the request Monday, a day before he was scheduled to take a 4-day trip to the Pocono Mountains.

Capra says the trip is for his son, who suffers from depression and emotional issues.

Prosecutors say the reputed Lucchese crime family associate threatened a man to collect a $100,000 loan. He was arrested in Sept. 2013 on federal extortion charges.

Capra's attorney didn't return a call seeking comment.
