Midtown crane collapse injures 3 workers at No. 7 train extension

Three construction workers were injured last night when a crane collapsed at the construction site of the No. 7 train extension near 34th Street and 11th Avenue, fire officials said.

At least one unconscious worker was rushed to Bellevue Hospital with serious injuries. Another was likely to be taken to a hospital with semi-serious injuries, and a third was being treated at the scene with minor injuries, officials said.

The FDNY said one 80-foot piece and one 40-foot piece of the crane fell onto the workers shortly before 7:30 p.m., but the department was unsure what caused the collapse.
