Mayor Michael Bloomberg will lobby for a marriage-equality bill in Albany today, adding some high-profile pressure on the fight to allow gay couples to marry in New York.

The mayor reportedly is giving about $100,000 of his own money toward the campaign. A bill has yet to be introduced in the Senate and it’s unclear whether any Republicans will support one. The Assembly passed a similar measure in 2009, but it failed in the Senate.
