Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun, who has been linked to Biogenesis clinic founder Anthony Bosch, has accepted a 65 game suspension from Major League Baseball running through the end of this season.
“As I have acknowledged in the past, I am not perfect,” Braun said in a statement released by MLB. “I realize now that I have made some mistakes. I am willing to accept the consequences of those actions. ... I wish to apologize to anyone I may have disappointed — all of the baseball fans, especially those in Milwaukee, the great Brewers organization, and my teammates.”
Braun will not receive the $3.5 million remaining on his 2013 salary. The 2011 NL MVP finishes this season hitting .298 with nine home runs and 38 RBIs in 61 games.
Although the suspension includes the postseason, the Brewers were 13.5 games out of the second wild card spot heading into last night’s home game against the Padres.
Braun is not subject to further ramifications resulting from PED use and is eligible to return to baseball next spring training.
