Mom of arrested terror suspect Jose Pimentel: I'm sorry

The mortified mother of the alleged terrorist busted by the NYPD this weekend apologized for her son's actions Monday, saying she's "very disappointed" in his violent and extremist plot to bomb cop cars, postal facilities and other targets.
"I would like to apologize to the city," said Carmen Sosa, 56, in the Hamilton Heights apartment she shares with her mother. "I love New York. I've always been here, since 1987. For me, I am very disappointed by what my son is doing."
He was arraigned Sunday in Manhattan Criminal Court and is being held without bail. He's charged with three terrorism-related counts and two other counts.
"A lot of people are saying a lot of things -- my son wasn't like that," said Sosa, a native of the Dominican Republic.
In the criminal, Pimentel said he bought "all of the components of the bomb," took "actives steps" to build it, and was "about one hour away from completing it," authorities said.
His mother said she never saw him with bomb-making materials and that most of the time, "He was very calm. He was praying to Allah, reading the Quran."
Police had been watching Pimentel, a U.S. citizen who converted to Islam, since at least May 2009.
