The boyfriend of a 20-year-old woman who was shot dead Wednesday night in Manhattan while pushing her baby in a stroller was arrested late Friday and charged with murder, police officials said.
Isaac Argro, 22, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon in the shooting of Azsia Johnson, the NYPD announced through a spokesman.
Argro had been sought as a person of interest in the slaying, police said.
Johnson was gunned down from behind at point-blank range around 8:25 p.m. Wednesday as she walked, with her 3-month-old in the stroller, along East 95th Street in the Carnegie Hill section on the Upper East Side, police said. The baby was unharmed.
Police believe Johnson, of Staten Island, was in a domestic dispute with her boyfriend, who is the father of the infant. Cops said he had been accused by Johnson and her family of shoving her earlier this year, an incident that triggered an assault investigation. Johnson also had a 2-year-old daughter.
A police spokeswoman earlier Friday evening said a man was in custody in the case and was en route for processing at the 19th Precinct.
