This year, one of the iconic metal pieces from "Monopoly" will get a fate worse then going directly to jail. It will be excised from the game and replaced by a new piece.

But Hasbro, the company that makes "Monopoly," is offering fans a chance to participate in a vote to save their favorite piece from extinction. Just head over to facebook.com/monopoly  before Feb. 5 and vote for the piece nearest and dearest to your heart, and then hope that others will vote along your party lines.

You will also get to vote for which new piece will make the cut. The offerings are: a cat, a diamond ring, a guitar, a robot and a helicopter.

Hasbro is also offering up the hashtag #token vote for people to campaign for their choice.
