Carson Daly, the former longtime host of MTV’s “Total Request Live,” now host’s NBC’s late-night talk show “Last Call With Carson Daly” and its new hit music competition series, “The Voice.”
Q: When do you get up?
A: The alarm goes off at 4:15. I put my feet on the ground. I try and find my BlackBerry, usually under my pillow.
Q: Why do you have to find your BlackBerry?
A: I use it as a light to illuminate the room to get to the bathroom to urinate.
Q: What’s your favorite breakfast?
A: My girlfriend has been making me egg whites with this Italian turkey sausage. I don’t eat that nice all the time. I love egg whites, but then the Italian turkey sausage gives it a little gravitas. Put a little hot sauce on it. … I love breakfast burritos, to answer your question.
Q: What is your typical breakfast?
A: Fruit — a banana, specifically. Some yogurt. And then I’ll usually have one of the breakfast bars that you think are healthy, but you may as well eat a Snickers. And a s--- load of coffee.
Q: What is your favorite place for breakfast in New York?
A: Breakfast is such a lost thing in New York — it’s all about the bagels. I was on 55th and Sixth, and I would make the trek [to] Tal Bagels. I don’t know if you’ve ever been to Tal [977 First Ave., between 53rd and 54th streets]. Tal’s bagels are f------ incredible.
