Mother, 2 small children found dead in Brooklyn

NEW YORK (AP) — Police say a mother and her two small children have been found slain in their Brooklyn apartment, and a man who answered the door there was taken into custody.

The woman's body was found in the kitchen of the apartment in Brooklyn's East New York section. Police say she apparently was stabbed to death. Her two children — ages 2 and 5 — were also found dead. It's not clear yet how they were killed.

A man was taken into custody at the scene and is being questioned by police. Authorities discovered the gruesome scene at about 1:15 p.m. Friday.

The investigation is continuing.
