MTA to expand overnight Fastrack maintenance to Queens, Bronx, upper Manhattan

The MTA said Monday it will begin the next phase of its Fastrack maintenance program in January, temporarily shutting down overnight service in parts of upper Manhattan, Queens, the Bronx other areas.

Sections of the N/Q/R, 4/5/6, A and more will close for between two and four nights in a row from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. as 800 to 900 workers descend into the tunnels.

The first closure will reportedly be Jan. 14, with the B and D lines in the Bronx, from 161st Street/Yankee Stadium to 205th Street.

The MTA will also begin some daytime Fastrack work, affect D/Q service between the Coney Island Creek Bridge and the North Stillwell Interlocking.

The initiative, which launched in January of this year, has been a boon to the agency's finances, officials said, bringing in a "net productivity gain of nearly $17 million."

The new FASTRACK corridors include:

- N/Q/R south of Queensboro Plaza to Court Street

- A Line between 168th Street and 207th Street

- D between 161st and 205th Streets

- EFMR between 5th Ave/53rd Street and Roosevelt Avenue

- 6 between 45th and 100th Streets

- 4/5 between 45th and 100th Streets
