MTA unveils new app for weekend riders

The MTA is making it a little easier to find out if your subway is running on the weekend.

The agency Monday announced its first in-house app, The Weekender, which provides details on weekend subway service changes by line, borough and station. 

The app is based off the Weekender feature on mta.info, and is free in Apple's App Store.

The app also includes a "Neighborhood Map" feature, which shows the locations of subway station entrances and popular destinations. Only Apple devices can run the app for now, but an Android version is in development, the MTA said.
